Firstly, welcome to Awliscombe Primary School.
We are delighted that you have chosen to enroll your child/ren here.
At both Payhembury and Awliscombe Primary
Schools we work closely together to offer the children the most varied
and stimulating experiences to aim to always achieve the best outcomes
for each individual child.
You can choose morning, afternoon or all-day preschool sessions from Monday to Friday. If your child would like to stay all day then they can either have school dinner (£2 a meal, payable via ParentPay) or you can provide a packed lunch. Free fruit and vegetables are provided at break time and you can choose to sign up to Cool Milk online
This term our topic is 'Why Do Ladybirds Have Spots?'
This term in Swans class we will be learning
about minibeasts' habitats, features and colours and we will be
comparing them. Throughout this topic the children will become
investigators with magnifying glasses in their hands to look under logs,
in the gaps in our own bug homes and in piles of leaves. This lovely
topic is perfect for the transition into spring and the changes that
come with it and I'm sure that the children will love writing from the
perspective of a spider and counting the spots on a ladybird.
Home Learning
The children are still having books sent home that match the phonics that we are learning in class, in addition to this, activities and books are being set on the Bug Club. Reading each night with your child is so beneficial and will really help them to make progress in their knowledge of phonics and blending.

Funding for 15 or 30 hours is available the term after your child’s 3rd birthday. The 15 hours free funding will happen automatically, however, you will need to apply for the 30 hours free funding if you believe you are eligible. This needs to be done via the HMRC website and you will then need to provide us with the 30-hour code. Any non-funded hours will be invoiced to you termly by us and paid via Parent Pay.
This application pack includes all forms that will need to be submitted to the school office prior to your child/ren starting with the school.
